Feelings of sadness, feeling low, having a loss of interest or pleasure in daily activities is something we all experience at some point in our life. It is when these emotions persist and affect our life substantially, it may be a sign of depression.

How can I help myself or a loved one?

  • Watch out for Suicidal ideation: "I'm going to kill myself," "I wish I were dead," or "I wish I hadn't been born"
  • Support them; help them stick with the treatment - keeping appointments, medication, be willing to listen, help with chores, make plans together
